Couples Cabins

Our couples' cabins are 12x20 with large windows and french doors overlooking our beautiful mixed pine and hardwood forest and the Kal-Haven trail beyond. Locally crafted, handmade furnishings garnish nearly every piece of these "tiny houses". Our couples cabins sleep 2-4 on a king-size bed and a queen sleeper sofa and bedding is included with all cabin rentals! If you have not booked for 3 or 4 but want extra bedding for the pull-out, we charge $10 to cover the costs associated with the additional laundry.  Inside, the tall ceilings and walls feature Michigan-made knotty pine paneling and hand-finished trim. A majority of the furniture was made by us as well, so if you like what you see we are happy to take on custom woodworking projects in the off-season! Each cabin is equipped with amenities including an air conditioning unit, a microwave, and a dormitory sized refrigerator. Outside, our cabins offer private 3' fire rings, grills, and 6' picnic tables.  


  **Please note that our cabins do not have bathrooms or kitchens. Our beautiful, clean bath facility is not far away and features independent showers and locally sawn hardwood on the walls.

  • General Campground Rules:

    We are big believers in being good neighbors. 


    Be respectful and friendly and everyone will be able to have a great time!


    Quiet hours: are from 11pm to 8am. No amplified music (i.e.- speakers), during quiet hours. We do patrol regularly, but if a guest is being problematic do not hesitate to call us! If they are bothering you, they are likely bothering others!


    Firewood: Due to state and local regulations, no outside firewood is allowed within the campground. We do offer bundles for sale at our store. 


    Fires: are allowed only in designated rings/pits. Fires must stay within the bounds of the fire ring. Please do not move our fire rings! If you do, you will be charged $25 to clean up and repair the damage caused.


    The woods: We love our woods and wish to preserve them, for many generations to enjoy. Thus, we ask that no one cut or bring anything out of the woods to be burned. 


    Pets: are allowed everywhere on our property other than in the store and bathrooms. You are responsible for your pet at all times. Pets are required to be leashed at all times. We have a very nice fenced in run, where you can allow you pet off leash. Please clean up any messes left by your pets!


    Reservations: For reservations there is a minimum 2 night stay required, 3 night stay for during holidays. If sites/cabins are still available within a week of your desired vacation, we will allow shorter stays on cabins/campsites. Just give us a call to check! We also always hold a minimum of 5 primitive sites for walk-ins off the trail (except on holidays)!


    Cancellations: Cancellations made more than 7 days prior to arrival (14 days for major holidays and festivals) will be charged a $20 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within that 7 day window will be charged the value of one nights stay as a cancellation fee, with the remainder refunded. Cancellations made the day-of arrival and early check-outs will not be refunded.


    No Smoking: No smoking allowed inside any accommodation or structure. There is a $250 cleaning fee if smoking noted in cabin/cottage. You as our guest are responsible for any and all damage done during your stay. The financial amount will be determined by the Kal-Haven Outpost based upon the time and material cost to repair said damages.

  • Lodging Policies:

    Check In Time: 4 pm or later. Early check in may be possible, just check with the office on the day of your arrival for availability. There is an additional 1/2 day charge for arrivals prior to 2 pm for Cabins/Cottages.


    Check Out Time: 11 am or earlier. Extended check out may be possible, just check with the office on the day of your departure for availability. There is an additional 1/2 day charge for Cabins/Cottages for extended departures at 2:00 pm or later. If one remains after 4:30 pm, a full nights rate is charged.


    Bedding: We include bedding, pillows and towels in all of our accomodations for your convenience! If you desire additional pillows or bedding for the pull-out couch and are not paying for the extra people we charge $10 for use of the set. We can have it in your cabin and ready for you if you plan ahead!


    Duplex units: The price listed is for 8 people, they can accommodate up to 10 people depending on your comfort level. There is an extra charge for any people beyond 8, the rate is $10/person/day. 


    Family cabins: The price listed is for 6 people, they can accommodate up to 8 people depending on your comfort level. There is an extra charge for any people beyond 6, the rate is $10/person/day.


    Couples cabins: The price listed is for 2 people, they can accommodate up to 4 people depending on your comfort level. There is an extra charge for any people beyond 4, the rate is $10/person/day.


    Glamping tents: The price listed is for 2 people, they can accommodate up to 4 people depending on your comfort level. There is an extra charge for any people beyond 4, the rate is $10/person/day.


    Skoolie: The list price is for 2 people. The Skoolie can only accommodate two individuals inside. If you would like to have a camping tent on the same site (there is plenty of room!) It will be $25 a night additional. Site can only accommodate 6 people maximum. 


    Open flames: No open flame cooking allowed in Cabins or Skoolie.


    Pets: All of our accommodations allow pets, ($20 charge, up to 3 dogs). All damage that is associated from pets will be the responsibility of the guest.

  • Primitive and RV Sites:

    Check In Time: 3pm or later. Early check in may be possible, just check with the office on the day of your arrival for availability. There is an additional 1/2 day charge for arrivals prior to  12pm for RV and tent spots 



    Check Out Time: 12pm or earlier. Extended check out may be possible, just check with the office on the day of your departure for availability. There is an additional 1/2 day charge for RV and Tent sites for extended departures at 1pm or later. If your party remains after 4:30 pm, a full nights rate is charged.



    Number of people per site: On our wooded primitive sites you can have a maximum of 6 people total. On the RV sites you may have a maximum of 8 people total. 


    Number of tents: On our RV sites we allow shade tents for no extra charge. You are allows one sleeping tent for an additional $10 per night. On Primitive sites you may have the equivalent of two medium tents. (3 small one/two person tents, 2 medium tents or 1 large family tent)



    Pets: Pets must remain on leash at all times, except when inside our fenced dog park. All damage that is associated from the pets will be the responsibility of the guest.
